Merton and Sutton Mediation
Who we are
Merton and Sutton Mediation is a community mediation service. We are an independent company, not part of any other organisation, and a registered charity.
What we do
We help local people resolve disputes through talking about the situation. We try to get the clients to reach an agreement about what is needed to improve things.
We also carry out other community projects aimed at bringing people together across different generations and backgrounds.
What is mediation?
Mediation is where a neutral person (the mediator) helps people who are having a dispute to try to resolve it. The mediator does not take sides or tell anyone what to do, but helps everyone involved let each other know what they need to sort things out, and reach an agreement about how to improve the situation for the future.
How does it work?
We meet each person separately first, to hear their view about the situation, how they are feeling, and what they need to sort things out. This can be by visiting them at home, or in a neutral place.
If everyone agrees, we then arrange a meeting with everyone involved to talk about how to resolve things.
